BARTOW - John Michael "Jack" Lowery, III, passed away from cancer Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
Born October 12, 1943 in Lebanon, MO he was the son of the late John Michael Lowery, Jr. and Viola Black Lowery. Jack was a graduate of Penn State University. He had been a resident of Bartow for the past 47 years. Jack was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Lowery worked in the phosphate industry for many years before retiring from U.S. Steel as a Mine Manager. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #3 in Bartow, and a former member of the Bartow Men's Golf Association.
Jack is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 41 years Patricia Lowery of Bartow, two sons, Scott Lowery (Melissa) of Bartow, Jeffery Lowery of Bartow, four grandchildren, Courtney Lowery, Robbie Lowery, Christopher Lindberg, and Stella Lowery. He also leaves behind his mother Viola "Dixie" Dugan of Sun City Center, and a sister: Sharman Franklin (Don) of Cairo, GA.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 23rd from 2PM to 3PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Memorial services will follow at 3PM at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice. Condolences at
