WINTER HAVEN - On Saturday, January 19, 2013 Kent walked straight into the arms of his Savior after a massive heart attack. We know his earthly father, Rev. Robert W. Sawders ran to greet him.
He was married for 46 years to Janice, and they loved each other with a steadfast love. Even though he always told her, "Honey, we should have had dogs instead of kids", his girls were his world. His oldest daughter, Kay Kelly, with her daughter, Jessica Schultz, and husband, William Belser, and his youngest, Vicki Tavenier, with her husband, Cory, and daughters, Madison and Alexis, thought the world of their Papa. He also leaves his mother, Viletta, brother, Jeff, and a close-knit extended family.
He was proud to be a Marine who fought in the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion. He worked for 14 years at Chapel Hill Christian School and Chapel Hill Church as the Bus Coordinator and Custodian. The kids and teachers all loved him. Every 6th grader wanted him on their kickball team, and the teachers were always on the lookout for the next prank he might play on them. For the last 17 years, he worked as an over the road salesman. This job resulted in a move to Winter Haven, FL, where he was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church.
The service will be held on Jan 23rd at Faith Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. He will be buried with military honors at Florida National Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Faith Baptist Church Building and Grounds Fund in his memory.
