LAKELAND - Martha Ardellis Burnham, 93, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, due to natural causes.
Ms. Burnham was born to the late William and Emma Proctor on February 11, 1920 in Madrid, AL. During WWII, Mrs. Burnham worked in the shipyard while the men were away at war. She was a strong woman.
Ms. Burnham was employed by Lakeland Regional Medical Center for over 20 years, where she served as the supervisor of the surgical pack room until her retirement in 1985.
Ms. Burnham was preceded in death by her son, William Still; daughter, Susie Parnell; and grandsons, David Igo and Ryan Francisco. She is survived by her sons, Donzell Burnham of Bonifay, FL and Billy Burnham of Hollywood, FL; daughters, Nell Atkins of Ft. White, FL, Alethea Igo of Lakeland, FL, Dianne Abbatiello of Lakeland, FL and Martha Igo of Lakeland, FL; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5-7pm at Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, AL. A funeral service will be conducted, in Mrs. Burnham's honor, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10am at Madrid Assembly of God in Madrid, AL with the Rev. Jerry Harden officiating. Interment will follow at Madrid City Cemetery.
