LAKELAND - R. Mark Davis went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2013 as the result of brain cancer.
He was born January 3, 1967 in Lakeland and is survived by his loving mother, Joanne Estridge; stepfather, Mike Estridge; sister, Tammy Belcher (Tony); uncles, Bill Graves (Beth) and Jimmy Davis (Babs); aunt, Jane Gonzalaz (Murray); neph-ews, Brent, Austin and Chase Belcher; stepsister, Elizabeth Estridge; aunts,
Lyndol Davis, Dorine Powell and Wanda O'Neal; and many cousins he dearly loved.
Mark believed that faith, family and friends were most important to him, and was a constant example of inspiration to those who were blessed to
know him. Mark was a ten- year team member on the Relay for Life Team
"Cancer Can't Tucker Us Out" and in 2011 and 2012 was chosen as the honorary captain. In 2013 Mark served as Chairman of the team. He has been
in Special Olympics for 28 years; Sunshine Kids Bowling League for 25
years; received an award for Most Outstanding Client of the Year in 2000;
and AFI Volunteer of the Year in 2001. He was a member of the Sunshine
Chorus, has had poetry published in The Ledger, and was a speaker for AFI. He was a member of the Kiwanis sponsored AFI Aktion Club since its
inception in 2005 and served as Treasurer and Vice President during his
membership. He was chosen to represent AFI at the State conference twice
since 2007. Mark was an avid Gator fan and enjoyed going to home games.
Mark attended Highland Park Church of the Nazarene where a funeral
celebrating Mark's life and his inspiration to others will be held on
Tuesday (April 9th) with visitation from 10-11 a.m. with the services at
