MULBERRY - Richard "Dick" Frederick Peterson, 85, of Mulberry, passed away on March 22, 2013, peacefully of natural causes with his loving wife at his side. There will be a memorial service at the Peterson home in Mulberry at Imperial Lakes subdivision on Wednesday, March 27th, at 3:00 p.m.
Dick was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 22, 1927. Shortly after high school, he enlisted with the US Army as a skilled draftsman. His talent as an engineer continued after the service taking him to Traverse City, Michigan where he made significant contributions to the engineering world and Cone Drive. It was in Traverse City Dick raised his family teaching his three sons and one daughter to love the outdoors.
Dick retired from Cone Drive after 38 years of service and moved to Florida to pursue his hobbies of tennis and golf which he actively engaged in until the age of 84. It was in Florida, Dick married his wife Alison, "Fay", Murano Peterson and they happily lived as husband and wife for 23 years until his death.
Dick is survived by his wife, two brothers, 3 sons, a daughter and their children, as well as 2 step-sons, a step-daughter and their children. Dick Peterson was a loving husband and father. He was a talented artist and outdoor enthusiast. He was a soft spoken, gentle man with a sunny disposition. He loved us all well and we will miss me.
A memorial service for Dick will be held in Traverse City, Michigan later in the year.
