LAKELAND - Mr. Theron Touchtone, 88, passed away 11/14/12 at his home from respiratory failure. Born March 8, 1924 in Attapulgus, GA.
He grew up in Homeland, FL and lived in Lakeland for nearly 60 years. He was a proud Veteran of WWII, joining the USS Navy in 1941 at the tender age of 17. He survived the sinking of the USS Yorktown in the battle of Midway and loved attending reunions honoring those who fought in the historic battle. While he worked as a IMC Supervisor, his passion was working with wood. He built his own boat, enjoying many hours fishing and skiing with his family. In retirement, his art flourished as he produced many treasures, such as grandfather clocks, furniture, etc. His quick wit and easy smile will be dearly missed by his family and friends who loved him.
Mr. Touchtone is survived by his wife of 28 years, Delores Touchtone; 3 daughters, Linda Walker (Allen), Tricia Sowell (Robert), Sylvia Putnam (Ben); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
