SARASOTA - On 3 October 2012, at age 86, The Reverend Thomas Earl Pittard (retired) died peacefully of natural causes, with his family present.
An ordained member of the Florida United Methodist Conference, Rev. Pittard began and concluded his ministry service in Lakeland.
Earl is survived by his wife of 53 years, Leah Rockey Pittard, recent residents of Sarasota; his children (and in-laws) Carol Pittard Hammer (Al) of Columbia, MD, "Lila" Pittard Levy (Bruce) of Sarasota, FL, Thomas Malcolm Pittard (Tara) of Atlanta, GA, and Vickie Pittard of Virginia; his grandchildren, Rafael Aaron Vigil and Thomas Terry Pittard; and his nieces and nephew. He is preceded in death by the sister he adored, Kathryn Pittard Hinson.
Earl will be remembered by family, friends and parishioners of the ten Florida communities he pastored on Sunday, 7 October 2012 at 3pm at First United Methodist Church, 104 South Pineapple Avenue, Sarasota. Reception will follow in the church garden.
