GUNNISON, CO. - Vera Jo Smith, 85, was born May 30, 1928 and passed away in Grand Junction, CO on June 30, 2013 due to complications with cancer.
Vera Jo held a Bachelor's in Education and Music, and a Master's in
Education. She was a loving mother, school teacher, and volunteer. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood and St. Peter's Catholic Church, Friend of the Gunnison Library, and was a volunteer at the Gunnison Pioneer Museum. She enjoyed figure skating, volunteering, music, ATV adventures, camping,
puzzles, reading, traveling, and Philanthropy.
Vera Jo was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Smith; and her
daughter, Joy Louise Smith. She is survived by her husband, Colonel Lawrence P. Davis, USAF, Ret.; sons, James R. Smith of Stanardsville, VA, Jeffrey A. Smith of Plantation, FL, and Jonathan A. Smith of Lakeland, FL; daughters, Josephine A. Hardee of Sanford, FL, Judith M. Smith of Orlando, FL, and Janet L. Smith of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Ruby Lou Butler and Carol

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 6-8 pm at
Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. Lakeland, FL. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church at 2 pm with interment to follow at Oak Hill
