WAYNE JOSEPH BECKER

WAYNE JOSEPH BECKER, 78

SARASOTA - Wayne Joseph Becker met our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 10, 2013. He died of congestive heart failure.
Wayne was born on August 28, 1934 in Kansas City, MO. He was the oldest of two sons to adopted parents, Ray and Cecelia Becker. He graduated high school from Boys Town in Omaha, NE and was a US Army veteran, serving as sergeant during the Korean War. He graduated college at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He retired as an Industrial Engineer from International Minerals and Chemicals Corp. in Polk County, FL in 1996.
He was a devout Catholic, attending Mass every day, leading the rosary and serving as Sacristan. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. His passion was golf and he would play every day if he could. He loved to tease and had a great sense of humor. He loved his wife of 27 years and enjoyed people, especially his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brother Eugene and first wife, Sunnee Rhoades Becker. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie J. Becker. He has six children: Pam Becker Yarbrough of Largo, FL, Kevin Joseph Becker (Mary) of Edwardsville, IL, Jeffrey Wayne Becker (Pam) of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Tracey Becker Wibirt (Craig) unknown, Mary Becker Philpot (Sam) of Largo, FL and Barbara Becker Bates (Ray) of Imperial, MO. He has three stepsons: Doyle E. Joyner, Jr. (Marsha) of Defuniak Springs, FL, Van Byron Joyner (Cathy) of Lake Wales, FL and Greg Allen Joyner (Corinne) of Plant City, FL.
He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 7900 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, FL 34241 on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 12pm followed by a reception in the parish hall. Interment will be with family only at Sarasota National Cemetery.
