HAINES CITY - Onvie "Tommie" Jones, age 89 of Haines City, Florida passed away Tuesday (6/14/2011) from heart failure at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale with her loving family by her side.
Tommie was born Feb. 2, 1922 in Kinston, Ala, the daughter of Isaac and Belle (Ward) Weeks. She then moved to Haines City in 1946 from Ala, and worked for the Polk County School System as manager of the cafeteria at Eastside Elementary School in Haines City. Tommie was a member of Eastside Baptist Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday School for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister and her husband, Otha Beaford Jones in 1962. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Jones of Lakeland, three daughters, Linda Taylor of Haines City, Patsy Albritton of Davenport, Fl. and Wonelle (Chris) White of Lake Alfred, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1 PM till services at 2 PM, Friday (6/17, 2011) at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City, Fl. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave. Auburndale 33823; Condolences may sent via:

We are so sorry to hear about Tommie, she was a wonderful lady, I worked with her in the nursery at Eastside Church for many years, we love her and we will miss her. Our love and prayers to the family.
