LAKELAND - - Bernice Gillis Rosenquest, 89, passed away May 17, 2011 of heart failure.
Ms. Rosenquest was born in Bainbridge, GA on December 25, 1921. She was a homemaker and member of Edgewood Church of Christ. She was a retired floral designer, and maintained her love for flowers following her retirement.
Ms. Rosenquest was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Skeen. She is survived by her children, Susan Hamilton, Randy Gillis and Joe Gillis; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 10-11 am at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. Services will be conducted at 11 am at the funeral home with interment to follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.

I haven't seen Bernice much in the last several years, but I think about her often. Her lessons on flowers and her funny sayings and humor made an unforgettable impression on my life.
