BRUNO, 92

LAKELAND - Betty Bruno, 92, of Lakeland died on Saturday, 3, 2018 in Lakeland. She was born in Wingate, NC to William & Rossie Austin. She moved to the Lakeland area in 1976 from the Bronx, NY, she authored a book titled 'War Ignites Love,' she was an avid gardener, having spent many hours and gained great pleasure from growing many types of vegetables and flowers and was affectionately known as the okra lady by many of her friends while living on Greenway Circle, and she attended Bible Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death in 2011 by her husband Dominick and is survived by her daughters Donna Cocoran (John) of Sterling Forest, NY, Elizabeth Weeks (Charles) of Lakeland, FL and Linda Wentzell (Rich) of St. Cloud, FL, 8 grandchildren and 12 great, grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Dr, Lakeland, FL 33801, followed by a committal service which will take place at 1:30 pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, where Betty will be laid to rest with her husband.
