LAKELAND - Mrs. Betty Figert of Lakeland passed away on July 25, 2013, from complications of Parkinson's, after a 13 year battle.
She was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Wabash, IN, to Henry & Elizabeth Schultz. She married Earl Figert on Dec. 3, 1949, in Ft. Wayne, IN. They moved to Lakeland in 1989 from Rochester, IN, and she quickly became involved in many of the committees, dinner dances and other activities at Lakeland Harbor. She also was a member of the Garden Club, The Meet & Green Club, the Women's Club & the coordinating council of Women's Clubs & with her great passion for Bridge, she also belonged to many bridge groups throughout Lakeland. She also found time to earn many blue ribbons for her beautiful oil paintings.
She will be missed by her husband of 63 years, and her loving family: her son Bradley of Ft. Lauderdale, Brian of Mobile, AL, Bruce and special grandson Scott of Lakeland, Cindy of Ohio, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be cremated and there will be family services with burial in the National V.A. Cemetery in Bushnell. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
