LAKELAND - Brenda Louise Meadows, 70, died on September 28, 2013, due to pancreatic cancer.
She was born on July 16, 1943, in Leachville, Arkansas. She was a resident of Lakeland since 2000 and formerly of Flint, Michigan. She was a retired Engineering Library Director, where she retired after 18 years of service with Kettering University. Mrs. Meadows was a member of the First Baptist Church of Highland City. She is listed in Who's Who. She was a storyteller and told stories to many elementary schools, both in Flint, Michigan and Polk County, Florida.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Wesley Meadows & Scott Eugene Meadows both of Lakeland; daughter, Suzanne Elizabeth Sparks and her husband Jim of Flint, Michigan; sisters, Deloris Merritt of Benton, Arizona and Linda Light of Flint, Michigan; brother, Eddie Summers of Flint, Michigan; 4 grandchildren, Ken S. & Raymond Alan Meadows, Justin Wesley and Cheyenne Nicole.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Highland City.
