LAKELAND - Doris "Charlotte" Ruff, 82, passed away April 26, 2013 due to heart failure.
Charlotte was born in Hamilton County FL, and moved to Lakeland in the 1940's. She moved to Alaska with her Husband Thomas Ruff & 2 of their children in 1970, and lived there until 1989, when she moved back to Lakeland. While in Alaska, she worked for a jewelry store; Charlotte & Tom eventually started their own Jewelry Store business which operated for ten years. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary in both Kodiak & Anchorage; she also served as president of that organization. Upon returning to Lakeland, she worked at Belks & Wal-Mart until retiring in 2007.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Maurice Yates in 2001, and her second husband Thomas Ruff in 2005. She is survived by her seven daughters, Dianne Albritton, Cheryl Hawthorne (Ray), Linda Yelvington, Victoria Biro (Joseph), Kimberly Duncan (Victor), Jackie Sherbert, and Sherry Keen (Wendell); a sister Thelma Moran; twenty grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren & 2 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11:00 am at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Northside, 5245 US 98 N., with burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
