LAKELAND - David Ernest Black passed away peacefully July 28, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.
David was born in Chicago, IL May 9, 1934 and moved to Lake Wales as a young boy. He was a graduate of Lake Wales High School and Erskine College in Due West, SC. He married his wife Lynda Hunter Black on Aug 1, 1959 and moved to Bartow. He went on to have a long career in banking being President of Florida National Bank and President and Chairman of the Board of Community National Bank. Upon retirement from banking, he began work at the law office of Frost, Van den Boom and Smith as comptroller. David was a member of the Bartow Kiwanis Club and Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife Lynda Belle Hunter Black, daughter Meg Dunlap George Rocky , grandchildren George Dunlap V. Angela , David Alex Dunlap, daughter Anne Fisher Champe , grandchildren Champe Fisher III, Caroline Fisher and Sam Fisher, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wallace and Barbara Orr and nephew William "Bill" Orr Susan . He was predeceased by his father Paul Black, mother Helen Black, brother Phil Black and sister Marthann Tillman.
The family will receive friends Friday from 12 to 2 pm and 4 to 6 pm at their home. Graveside service will be 11 00 am Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be to Bartow Police Dept. 450 N Broadway Ave Bartow, FL 33830 or Bartow Fire Dept, 110 E Church St Bartow, FL 33830.
