HAINES CITY - Don Peyton Belcher, 71, of Haines City, departed this life on Sat. Nov. 22, 2008 after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in Plant City in 1937 to Calvin P. and Alma Simmons Belcher. He graduated from Plant City H.S. in 1955. He retired from GTE after 33 years in the telephone industry. He served in the National Guard, and as a Rotarian and became a Paul Harris Fellow. He retired to Haines City for a piece of old FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kay Cummings Belcher; by his two daughters, Betsy Belcher (Tim Cook) of Lowell, NC, and Cheryl Boeglin (John) of Bradenton; his grandsons, Cole and Chance Boeglin; his sisters, Sylvia Robinson (Cleve) of Hawthorne, and Vanessa Kennedy of Eustis; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services to be held on Wed. Nov. 26 at 1:00 PM at the Hopewell Funeral Home Chapel, friends may call beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823, and/or SPOHNC, Inc. (support for people with oral, head and neck cancer), P.O.
