LAKELAND - Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Freer Dobbings died Thursday, August 16, 2012 of heart failure in Lakeland, Florida. Betty was born April 7, 1929 to Genevieve Elizabeth Mitchell and Glenn Octave Freer in Lakeland where she lived most of her life.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She graduated from Lakeland High School and Eastman Dental College in Rochester, NY. She practiced as a dental hygienist for 40 years and truly enjoyed her work and her patients. She and her husband Bill lived in Bradenton, Florida for 24 years where she spent many lovely days on the beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of 55 years, William P. "Bill" Dobbings; son, Glenn Thomas Dobbings, and brother, John Donald Freer. She is survived by four daughters, Nancy Powers of Montgomery, AL, Linda Lange (Paul), Mary Gay (Tom), and Susan Horak (Elmer), and a son Terry Dobbings all of Lakeland; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brother, David Freer (Connie) of Daytona Beach FL; sisters, Kay Doren and Joan Freer of Lakeland and Ann Underwood of Richmond VA.
Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Wednesday, August 22. Visitation at 3PM followed by a funeral mass at 4PM with Monsignor John Caulfield officiating.
