BARTOW - Ellen B. Austin, age 94, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at Savannah Court Assisted Living Facility in Bartow. Born October 26, 1918 in Parrish , FL, Mrs. Austin was a longtime resident of Bartow. She was a secretary for the Polk County area Schools for 43 years, serving for many years at Mulberry High School. She was a member of the Bartow Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church & the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew F. Austin & brother, Charles R. Beatty. Mrs. Austin is survived by three sons, Gene W. Austin & wife Jeannie, Jerry Austin & wife Bernie, all of Bartow, Patrick Austin & wife Lynn of Lakeland; daughter, Judy Elliotte & husband Ray of Bartow; niece, Donna Gallup of Alexander, VA; 9 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Sunday, November 18, 2012, 4-6 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St, Bartow. Graveside interment services will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 9:30 AM at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM at the Bartow Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 205 E. Stanford St., Bartow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1411, Bartow, or Cornerstone Hospice, 2590 Havendale Blvd, Winter Haven, 33880.
