Forrest DeReus Obituary
Accountant
AUBURNDALE - - Forrest Earl DeReus, 85, passed away May 24, 2011 from renal failure.
He was known as "Woody" to his family and friends. He attended Winter Haven High School and the University of Miami. He served in the Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class musician aboard the USS Essex during World War II and later became an accountant for Minute Maid/ CocaCola Corp. He was an active member of the Auburndale Rotary Club and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winter Haven. He was devoted to his family and his career of 49 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie A. DeReus and his daughter, Denise Stambaugh. He is survived by his daughter Sharron D. Mason; and his son Mark T. DeReus. He was "Poppa" to his grandchildren Heather Stambaugh, Lindsay and Derek Springer, Megan LaLonde, Scott DeReus, Kathryn DeReus, and Patrick LaLonde.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, June 10, 2011 at 9AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winter Haven in the Rose Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
