LAKELAND - Frederick W. Whitt, 89, passed away on August 2, 2012 due to a stroke.
Frederick was born on Sept. 25, 1922, in Branson, CO. He was a Navy veteran and served in WWII. He worked in the phosphate industry for most of his life after college. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary of Lakeland, Flotilla 71 and the Egyptian Shrine of Tampa, Southland Lodge 256 of Lakeland.
Frederick is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Whitt, and his parents Charles and Fannie Whitt. He is survived by his sons, Jerrold (Eileen), Larry (Penny), Glenn (Regina), and Eric Whitt (Cheryl), brother, Tom Whitt, sister, Mary Howe, ten grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 5-7 pm at Heath Funeral Chapel Tribute Center. A service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10 am in the Chapel. Interment to follow the service at Oak Hill Burial Park.
