ROBERTSON, 72

LAKE ALFRED - Gary Robertson, age 72, of Lake Alfred, Florida, passed away Sunday, October 4th, 2015.
A native of Deland, he was the son of Guy and Naomi Robertson. After graduating High School, Gary began attending The University of Florida, but left to join the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Greece. After his military service, Gary returned to college and earned his BA from The University of South Florida. After graduation, Gary worked as a geologist for American Oil in New Orleans. For the next decade after that he went on to work for Allstate Insurance. Later in life, he changed careers and worked happily as a math teacher with the Polk County School System until his retirement in 2012. During that time, he served as Chairman of the Mathematics Department and was awarded math teacher of the year 2006-2007. He was an avid reader, a coin and gem collector, a proud member of the VFW, and a diehard Gator fan.
He is survived by his children: Joel (Heather) Robertson and Angela (Kevin) Pichard, grandchildren: Victoria Carroll, Max, Connor, & Parker Robertson, siblings: Glen (Barbara) Robertson and Marilyn (Nardie) Stabler, many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, October 8th, 2015, from 10:00 am to 11:00am at Kings Pointe Clubhouse, 100 Winterdale Drive, Lake Alfred, Florida, 33850, with a Memorial Service (with Air Force Honors) to follow at 11:00am.
