LAKELAND - Mrs. Geneva Phillips, age 75, died of a heart attack Monday (February 11, 2013).
Born in Frostproof on October 17, 1937, Geneva was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a caregiver and member of the former Temple Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school bus worker. Geneva never met a stranger.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her son Richard Hornsby. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles E. Phillips, Lakeland; son Ronald Hornsby, Mulberry; daughter Candy Simms, Lakeland; brothers Albert Lightsey, Ft. Pearce, FL, David Lightsey, Michael Lightsey, and Bobby Lightsey, all of Lake Placid, FL, Billy Lightsey, Orlando; sister Mary Phillips, Lakeland; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation was from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel. The service followed at 2 p.m. at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Corinth Primitive Baptist Cemetery.
