WINTER HAVEN - Gordon Everett "Chad" Chadsey, 81, passed away from complications of cancer Sunday (Aug. 5, 2012) at Life Care Center in Winter Haven, Florida with his wife, Joan, by his side.
Gordon was born in Providence, R.I., November 14, 1930, and graduated from Central High School as a cabinet maker apprentice.
His early skills were apparent in the homes and offices he remodeled through the year. He was in the U.S. Army Artillery Division during the Korean Conflict serving in Germany. Gordon married Joan W. (Ramsay) on February 14, 1958. They resided in Barrington, R.I., for 32 years. Gordon played Industrial League Softball, being named MVP. He was employed by Gulf Oil/Chevron for 20 years. He enjoyed skiing, cycling, fishing, golfing, square dancing and woodworking.
While in Florida, he resumed golfing, scoring a hole in one. He continued building model construction equipment from exotic woods and many are displayed in homes. His workmanship was also evident in the R.V. Park where he resided for 20 years.
He was predeceased by his son Steven L. Chadsey and his parents Charles H. and Dorothy G. (Brownell) Chadsey. He is survived by son Charles G. Chadsey (Julie) Seekonk, Mass., granddaughter Corinda R., East Providence, R.I., grandsons Staff Sgt. Charles A (Kathy), Fort Polk, LA, and Michael J. Chadsey, Warren, R.I. He is survived by a brother Lloyd I. (Carolny) Chasey, Rumford, R.I., nephews Alan B. Chadsey, Mark M., David M. (Pam), and Matthew L. (Meradth) Moreira, two great nephews and five great nieces.
