LAKELAND - Helen Emily Wible Crowley, 98, passed away on June 10, 2012 in Florida at Lakeland Regional Medical Center from natural causes.
She was born in Gettysburg, PA, on May 4, 1914, the youngest of seven children born to Robert E. Wible Esq. and Jean Spackman Cope Wible.
She graduated from Highspire High School in Highspire, PA, and received a BA degree from Methodist College in North Carolina after taking classes at various colleges while moving around with her military husband. Emily was also proud to have served our country with the Waves in the United States Navy for five years during World War II. She was a life-long learner, always wanting to learn something new by reading and traveling. She always found ways to volunteer in libraries and hospitals wherever she lived. Emily loved church and took every opportunity to participate in the church choirs whenever she could, sometimes singing solos. Other regular activities for her were card playing and swimming. She demonstrated a sharp memory when it came to recalling names, phone numbers, and addresses.
She and her husband, Joseph, retired to Florida in 1975 and settled in Margate. She eventually entered the Florida Presbyterian Home in Lakeland, FL in 2005.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Crowley and infant son, Douglas M. Crowley. She is survived by nine nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at Florida Presbyterian Homes at a later date.
