SCOBIE, 90

LAKELAND - Herbert C. "Bud" Scobie, 90, of Lakeland, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale of natural causes.
Born Feb 9, 1921, in Minneapolis, MN, he was a much loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jo; his sister, Ann Ridley of Winter Haven; his daughter, Maralyn Evans and husband Tom of Ellijay, GA; his son, Mike and wife Eveline of Land O Lakes, FL; a grandson, Scott Scobie, of Holiday, FL; and a granddaughter, Kristen Naugle of Tampa, FL.
He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps engineers in World War II, serving in North Africa and Italy. He graduated from Lakeland High in 1939. He was a founding member of Parkview Baptist Church, where he had served many years as a deacon. He had worked for 36 years for Peninsular Telephone, General Telephone and GTE Florida in Lakeland and Tampa. He held various management positions including Division Manager and Service Director before retiring in 1982.
A memorial service will be held on June 4, 2011 at 10:30 am at Parkview Baptist Church in Lakeland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, or Florida Baptist Children's Home.
