LAKELAND - Jim Cebulski died at Lakeland Regional Health Center on August 2, 2018, at the age of 75.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Benjamin and Estelle Cebulski on April 14, 1943. He is survived by his wife, Anita Cebulski, his children, Jonathan Cebulski, Stephanie Schoen and her husband Eric Schoen, his grandchildren, Gabriel Loza, Sarah Schoen and Allison Schoen, his brother, Bob Cebulski, and his cherished pet dogs, Moochie and Max.
He graduated from Kent State University in Akron, Ohio, with a MA in political science and worked as an academic advisor at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, Florida, for many years before retirement. His great love was teaching and helping students. At USF, he was instrumental in the development of a freshman orientation video and university experience course which he loved to teach. He also enjoyed his volunteer work with VISTE, SPCA Florida, and mentoring a boys reading group at Padgett Elementary School. He will always be remembered for his love of family, his sense of humor, his knowledge of history and politics, and his ability to relate to others.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations, if desired, can be made to the or to the SPCA Florida.
