WINTER HAVEN- On November 15, 2013, John Headley, 87 ran on to His Heavenly Father's house due to heart failure. Waiting there for home were his wife, Maxine Fowler Headley and his daughter, Julie Ann Headley, his parents, Fonzie and Mattie Bone Headley; along with his 5 brothers and 4 sisters were also there waiting. What a wonderful reunion it had to be.
John was born on September 27, 1926 in Clanton, Alabama. After serving in the US Navy, he moved to Winter Haven, Fl and married Maxine.
He was a carpenter for many years. This trade served him well as he helped build Inman Park Baptist Church in Winter Haven where he attended for many years.
He was an avid fisherman and loved nothing better than to see his wife, daughters, or granddaughter pull in a fish. He loved to hunt, but we could never figure out if he liked the hunt or more enjoyed the woods and nature around him.
In later years, he lived at First Christian Towers, where he was always quick to help others or share a meal.
He will be missed by so many; but especially his family.
He is survived by his daughters; Bonnie Headley Crews and son in law Jim Crews of Bartow, Fl; Jane Headley Bumgarner and son in law Garry Bumgarner of Dawsonville, GA., his granddaughter, Lori McMahon Cain of Danielsville, GA; 3 great grandchildren, Kayleigh Hill, Garrett Lonski, and Jarred Cain.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, November 19th at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 20th at 10:00am at Ott-Laughlin .
In lieu of flowers, donations may to made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 8190, Lakeland, Fl. 33802.
