LAKELAND - Leroy Canady, Sr., died of natural causes on June 11, 2013.
He moved to Florida 60 years ago from Valdosta, GA. He has been a resident of Lakeland and a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mr. Canady served in the US Army during World War II to protect and honor his country. He worked & retired from the Greyhound-Trailways Busline for over 30 years and the Phosphate Mines for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bennie Mae Canady in 1985 and 2 sons, Clifford & Wheeler Canady. He is survived by his loving granddaughter & care-giver, Tonya Young of Lakeland; two daughters, Earnestine Smith & Cindy L. Bowers (Herman); 2 sons, Leroy Canady, Jr. (Mary) & Jimmie Lee Canady; 19 grands, 50 great grands, 6 great great grandchildren & a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Visitation will be Friday, 5-7 pm at Macedonia PB Church ( 1240 N. Ohio Ave, LKLD). Funeral will be 1 pm, Saturday at the Church.
