MAIOLA "MAYO" ALLENE KILGORE BERRY, 79

WINTER HAVEN - Maiola Berry, lovingly known as Mayo to family and friends, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 12, 2012 after a bout with cancer. Mayo was born on Jan. 3, 1933, in Charleston, MO.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert "Bob" E. Berry.
Mayo and Bob lived in various places, including: East Prairie, MO, San Diego, CA, Columbia, MO, and Marysville OH, for Bob's service in the Navy, college, and career, and have resided in Winter Haven, FL for the last 45 years.
Mayo and Bob have been avid travelers, circling the world twice with trips to 21 countries, many Caribbean islands, all 50 states and all provinces of Canada. The year of their 50th wedding anniversary, they traveled to one place each month that had significant meaning in their lives.
Mayo was Editorial Secretary of the International Journal of Food Science. She was a volunteer with the Winter Haven Community Theatre. Mayo also enjoyed acting and was active in Winter Haven's acting troupe, The Friendly Players, which took live theatre into elementary and middle schools in the surrounding communities. She was also a volunteer with Friends of the Library.
Mayo and family were long-time active members of Beymer Methodist Church. Through the years, Mayo served as a Sunday School teacher for elementary and young adult classes, worked in the church library, assisted with theatre and musical events within the church, and she sang in the choir.
Along with her husband, Bob, Mayo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martee and Tom Baptiste of Dade City, FL, daughter Julie Berry of St. Petersburg, FL and son Robert E. Berry II of Lakeland, FL. She is also survived by granddaughter Jessica Youmans and great-grandchildren Chase and Maycey of Zephyrhills, FL, along with granddaughter Morgan Baptiste Griffin and her husband Chris and great granddaughter Hailey of Zeph-yrhills, FL and granddaughter Megan Berry of Eagle Lake, FL.
Arrangements will be made by Crisp-Coon Funeral Home and a Memorial Service will be held at Beymer Methodist Church in Winter Haven, FL on Sat., Dec. 1 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Beymer Methodist Church.
