LAKELAND - Patsy Ann Benton, 79, died Saturday (6-22-13) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of heart failure.
Patsy was born July 5, 1933 in Evansville, Indiana and came to Lakeland in 1958. Mrs. Benton retired from GTE after 33 years of service. Until her health kept her home bound she was happily active in her worship at Gapway Baptist, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, singing in the choir and much more.
While she loved everything art related - painting, music, poetry, dance - it was people she truly cherished. She had an extraordinary talent for finding the good in everyone. She believed life is what you make of it. She will be remembered for her enormous heart and boundless spirit, enriching the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Though gone from our reach, forever will she live in our hearts.
Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Benton and her brother, Robert Gootee. She is survived by her son, Benjamin (Sylvia) Putnam; her daughters, Vickie (Tom) Thompson and Beverly Putnam Sisson; her sister, Betty Jane Chaple; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held
Wednesday (6-26) from 5 to 8 pm at Lanier Funeral Home. The funeral will be 10 am Thursday (6-27) at Gapway Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to Gapway Baptist Church; Home Bound Ministries; 1705 N. Combee Rd., Lakeland, FL, 33801.
Interment to be in Oak Hill Burial Park.
