QUINN, Jr., 84
LAKELAND - Robert Sidney Quinn, Jr., 84, died on May 9, 2012, in Lakeland, Florida, of complications from aortic dissection surgery.
He was the husband of Mary Elizabeth (McCabe) for 66 years. Born April 12, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Lucile (Fisher) Quinn, and the late Robert Sidney Quinn, Sr. He graduated from Langley High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1946. Bob, fully retired in the spring of 2010, was a successful career salesman and sales manager, specializing in construction equipment and, later in mechanical fasteners. He managed campgrounds and mobile home parks, often co-managing with his wife. While semi-retired he had worked at a wide variety of jobs, including warehouse manager, sales associate, and at various posts in the security industry. Bob was a lifelong reader and could speak knowledgably on countless subjects. He was an excellent story teller with an inexhaustible wit. Bob was blessed with a world class tenor voice, prized by more than one church choir.
In addition to his wife Mary of Lakeland, Bob is survived by two daughters, Meredith Dimperio of Lakeland and Kerry (Greg) McElfresh of Ferndale, Washington; three sons, Robert S., of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Christopher J. (Betsy), of San Diego, California, and Patrick E., also of San Diego, and his sister, Donna Joyce, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, three grandsons, Ian and Andrew McElfresh, and Cameron Quinn and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Kate, in April, 2002.
A memorial service will be held at the Clubhouse at Lakeland Harbor at 4747 Highway 33 N. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to
