EASLEY, S.C. - Roberta "Cherry" Murphy Schaffer, 86, passed away April 28, 2013 in Easley, SC, as a result of natural causes.
Affectionately known to family and friends as "Cherry", Mrs. Schaffer was born February 15, 1927 in Palasky, Kentucky to the late Lewis and Dora Murphy. She grew up and attended school in Marion County, KY. Mrs. Schaffer was an employee of Eckert Drug Store, where she served for 25 years, until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of West Lakeland Church of God. Mrs. Schaffer was a beautiful, generous woman that enjoyed gardening and crafts in her spare time.
Mrs. Schaffer was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Martin Schaffer and siblings, Paul Murphy, Jene Williams, James Murphy, Jerry Holmes, and Gladys Ritch. She is survived and cherished by her son Ray Sullivan and his wife, Terri; sister Mary Henson; grandson Aaron Sullivan and his wife, Zoe; great granddaughters Reese and Hailey; and nephew Hoyt Bryant.
A celebration of Mrs. Schaffer's life will be conducted Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10 am at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 South Bartow Highway, in Lakeland. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be made to the family at
