TAMPA - Ruth Plott Cook, 98, of Tampa, passed away Apr. 20, 2013. Born Apr. 11, 1915 in Canton, NC.
Predeceased by husband Lt. Col. Philip M. Cook, parents Jonathon and Mayme Plott, sister, Frances Upton and brother Jonathon Plott. Ruth is survived by daughter Marlyn Cook and husband Ben Pethe, son John P. Cook and wife Tricia, grandchildren Brennan Calkins and husband Sam, Shana Ruth Cook and Kelsey Hill and husband Brian, great grandchildren Breanne Calkins, Chloe Springer, Connor Hill and John Cook, nieces Mary Ann Plott, Carolyn Dixon and Jacquelyn Floyd.
Ruth graduated from Lakeland High School. After attending business school, Ruth was employed by Gibson-Plott wholesale grocers in Lakeland prior to her marriage in 1946. Ruth and Philip moved to Tampa and became members of Palma Ceia Baptist Church in 1954. She was a member of the DAR.
The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. on Thurs. Apr. 25th at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa, FL 33609. Private interment will be in Lakeland.
