SPRING, TX. - Sherriann Hooker passed away Monday, March 9, 2015, of heart failure, at her residence in Spring, TX at age 52.
Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Sher, as everyone knew her, graduated from Penfield High School and went on to earn a B.A. in Communications from University of Central Florida. She then continued her education and achieved a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Webster University in 2003 and was working toward her PhD in I/O Psychology.
Sher spent seventeen years at Polk County BOCC, eventually becoming Human Resource Manager. Always willing to mentor people was high on Sher's priority list. She loved the whole process of interviewing and offering positions to people she really believed in and working with people to hone their interviewing and job search skills. As a result, she helped thousands in her years at Polk County. In 2014, Sher left Polk and accepted an offer from Coastal Chemical of Houston, Texas, to help spearhead a new HR team. Like everything else, Sher met the challenge with enthusiasm and grace as she became an integral part of this growing team. But who Sher was, was something much more. She was a gifted singer, cook, writer, speaker and dancer. She was an amazing wife, mother, friend and grandmother. She was an ardent lover of mystery novels and enjoyed family, friends and cooking amazing Italian meals for them.
Sher is preceded in death by her father Leonard Patti; she is survived by her mother Ann Patti, her husband Scott, her son Scott, her daughter Patti Hidalgo, and grandson Luc Hidalgo.
There will be a Catholic Mass on Saturday March 28th at St Matthew Catholic Church of Winter Haven, FL, at 9:00AM with inurnment to follow.
