THOMAS EDWARD HODGE, 92
LAKELAND - Deacon Thomas Edward Hodge, 92, was a hardworking, God-fearing, always loving, kind-hearted man. He would give of his time to Church, neighborhood and the Viste Program. As a member of Harmony MB Church, he served as a Deacon and Choir member.
Deacon Hodge, married seventy years to his bride, Adele, has lived a true love story; enduring the challenges of life with the love of God.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army as a Military Police. He later became one of Lakeland's First African American Police Officers from 1954-1975. After retiring the Police Force, he was employed by IMC New Wales in Security as Gate Guard.
Deacon Hodge is preceded in death by his son, Lorenzo Larry. He leaves to cherish his memory, his lovely wife, Adele, son, Tyrone (wife, Brenda), grandchildren, Whitni (fiancé, Stacey), Thomas Christopher (wife, Teresa), Lorenzo Larry, Jr., Yolander Larry Lasane and Yvonne Rashaun Larry. He was also blessed with great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews and long time friends. On June 26th, 2013, the sun set for Deacon Thomas E. Hodge at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, due to natural causes.
Public Visitation Ceremony will be Friday, July 5th, 2013, 5-7pm at Harmony MBC (1645 Webster Ave, LKLD); Funeral Service will held Saturday, July 6th, 11am at the Church.
