LAKELAND - Vera Kent Fender, 96, was born November 28, 1916 in Nashville, GA to Charlie and Rittie Pitman and went to be with God on October 26, 2013 due to natural causes.
Vera moved to Highland City, FL in 1940. She lived in Eaton Park, FL and Lakeland, FL until she moved to Lantana, FL to live with her son, Charles and his wife, Ann, until her death.
She was predeceased by her son, Freddie; her husband, Homer; four brothers, James, Floyd, Donald, and Vernon Pitman; two sisters, Retha Mitchell and Viola Pitman.
Vera is survived by her two sons Cecil Charlotte Kent and Charles Ann Kent; daughter, Eloise Charles Kelly; brother, Charles Theola Pitman; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6-7pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Heath Funeral Chapel with a Celebration of Life to begin at 7pm. A private graveside service will be held at a later date for the family.
