WINTER HAVEN - W Randy Collany, 70, of Winter Haven, died at 3:37 AM, Monday, August 26, 2013 at his home due to complications from Parkinson's disease. He was born to Walter von Collany and Lucille Chiles Collany in St. Petersburg, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Diane Devaney whom he married on June 7, 1969.
He is also survived by, his son, Randy Collany Jr. of Winter Haven, FL; son, Chris Collany and wife Katie of Winter Haven, FL and their children, Caspian, McCambridge, Copeland, Carlow, Creighton; daughter, Robin Collany Parker and husband David of Windermere, FL and their children, David, Landon, Berkley, Kelsey; and daughter, Kathy Collany of Highlands, NC and her son Caleb Collany.
Randy received his Bachelor Degree from The University of Florida and was also the US Navy OCS in Newport, RI and the LSU School of Banking.
Randy was the President of Barnett Bank from 1976 to 1981. He was past President of WH Chamber of Commerce in 1978, Girl Scouts of America, Boys and Girls Club, Co-founder of Parkinson's support group, Ridge Art Association, The Bascom Art Center, Red Sox Boosters, an active Rotarian, served on the Vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Founding Member of St. James Methodist Church, St. Petersburg, FL, Member of the Florida Club, Past Commodore Lake Region Yacht & Country Club, Member of Highlands Country Club, Highlands, NC, Member of St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Member of FL Yacht Club, Jacksonville, FL.
He was an active conservationist, citrus grower and real estate developer including Shell Island, Weedon Island, Collany Conservation Bank, Collany Mitigation Bank, Merrill Lynch Building Winter Haven and Gates of Lake Region.
Randy was an incredible provider, both as a husband and father. He was a great and decent man who accepted everyday challenges, turning them into opportunities. He possessed unparalleled character, dignity, integrity and courage. His ability to harness the power of optimism is something he passed on to any individual he touched. He was an example for all of us and will be greatly missed by those whom he came in contact.
The celebration of life service for Randy Collany will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 5, 2013 at New Hope Church, 651 Carl Floyd Road, Winter Haven, FL 33884. The Reception is to follow at his home located at 1200 West Lake Otis Dr. SE, Winter Haven, FL 33880. There will be a service at 5:00pm Friday, September 13, 2013 at Community Bible Church, Highlands, NC.
