LAKELAND - Lola Catherine "Ms. Kitty" Ellison Davis, 86, passed away peacefully, as a result of respiratory failure, Monday, April 30, 2012, with her family by her side.
Ms. Kitty was born February 4, 1926 in Lakeland, FL. She worked at Ross of Florida and Taylor's Alterations, where she served as a seamstress. Ms. Kitty was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church for over 52 years, where she taught Sunday school. She is a member of Medulla Baptist Church.
Ms. Kitty was preceded in death by her husband J.C. "Cleo" Davis. She is survived by her children: Ron (Joyce) Ellison, Vesta Foster, Wendell (Rhonda) Ellison, and Elaine (Jim) Ising; step-children: Joyce (Ron) Ellison, Eileen (Larry) McLaughlin and Ken (Cheryl) Davis; a second set of children: the Hersey's, Bunnie, Beverly, Donald, Gerald, Carol, Elizabeth and Glenda, 2 sisters, a brother, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 6-8pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Dukes-Steen Chapel, 1833 S. Florida Avenue in Lakeland. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11am at Medulla Baptist Church, at 3930 Old Road 37 in Lakeland with Pastor Mark Epperson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. Donations can be made to Medulla Baptist Church in her honor.
