VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. - Alpha T. "Rusty" Russell, 91, of Titian Lane in Virginia Beach died on June 12, 2012 peacefully in her home due to natural causes.
She was born December 21, 1920 in Castlewood, VA, a daughter of the late Alfred James and Mary Dora Turner. Ms. Russell moved to the Tidewater area in 1953 and was a retired cashier for GEX and Safeway supermarkets. She was a staunch supporter of Disabled Veterans, the local Fire Departments and the Republican Party. Ms. Russell was a member of First Nazarene Church at Wishart Road.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Russell Parks of Lakeland, FL; five brothers, Cotton, Jack, Guy, Clovis and Ezra Turner; and five sisters, Edith Routh, Belle Phipps, Zettie Kiser, Lake Edwards, and Virgie Smith.
Ms. Russell is survived by three sons, Denny and Jeffrey Russell of Virginia Beach and Phillip Russell of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Wesley, Tammy and Stephanie; along with several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted Tues., July 3rd at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Burial Park with Rev. Mike Routh officiating.
