LAKELAND - Thomas "Tom" Matthew Olson, 79 of Lakeland, died July 1, 2012 due to heart failure.
Tom was born October 30, 1932 in St. Paul, MN to Robert and Helen (Weldon) Olson and moved to Lakeland in 2004 coming from Daytona Beach. Tom is a Korean War Navy Airplane mechanic and an avid pilot who loved to restore and fly planes. He was also a radio controlled airplane enthusiast who was well known at Lake Elmo Airport. Tom was an entrepreneur who formerly owned Dytec North, Inc. in St. Paul.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffrey Olson and a brother, Robert Olson. Tom was united in marriage on December 17, 1997 to his wife, Olga who resides in Lakeland. He is also survived by his sons, Scott Olson of Ames, IA and Anthony Nunn of St. Paul; his daughters, Pam Singletary and Starr Olson both of St. Paul and Stephanie Koski of Hudson, WI; his brother, Jerry Olson of Virginia Beach and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the family home for a Celebration of Tom's Life in Lakeland on Saturday, July 7th at 2pm and in the Twin Cities on July 21st. Interment will take place in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens is in charge of arrangements.
