McALISTER, 87
LAKELAND - Martha L. McAlister, 87 died of heart failure July 9, 2012. She was born in Paducah, KY, September 6, 1924, and moved to Lakeland in 1925. Her career included telephone operator, manager of Peggy Newton Cosmetics, owner of C&M Distributing Company, and AAA Employment Agency.
Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, painting, and playing the game of pool. She enjoyed working with Lakeland's Swansation.
Preceded in death by parents, Allen Wallace McAlister and Goldie Farthing McAlister; brothers, Robert and Allen McAlister; and niece, Jan McAlister Reese. She is survived by sister in-law, Mary McAlister, Ocala, FL; nieces, Judy Lewis (Don), Jackson, TN, Mary Lou Kyle (Chris), Ocala, FL, Patty Hughes, Ocala, FL.; nephews, Barry McAlister, Tallahassee, FL, David McAlister, Palatka, FL, Paul McAlister (Cathy), Jacksonville, FL, Joe McAlister, Ocala, FL, and their families.
Martha was a member of the South Florida Avenue, Church of Christ. Graveside services, Roselawn Cemetery, Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at 2:00pm.
