DENTON, TX. - Betty Kaiser Ashby went to be with the Lord due to natural causes on August 3, 2012, in Denton, TX, at the age of 90.
She was born on March 15, 1922, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Louis and Adeline Kaiser, and was an only child.
Betty attended business school and worked as a secretary during World War II, when she was engaged to David Arthur Ashby, Jr., a lieutenant in the Air Force and POW. Shortly after he returned from the war, they were married on June 24, 1945, in Memphis, TN. Once David completed engineering school at Georgia Tech, Betty left her job to become a homemaker and raise two children, Andrea Elaine and David Louis Ashby.
After her husband David had worked ten years in Memphis and two years in Trinidad, West Indies, he took a position as a mechanical engineer in central Florida and ultimately retired in Lakeland. He and Betty loved to play bridge with friends and travel before David died in 2007 at age 87. Betty remained in Florida for two years until she moved to Good Samaritan Village in Denton to be close to her son, David and his family.
She is survived by daughter Elaine of Berkeley, CA; and son, David and wife, Amy of Denton. She was blessed to have three grandchildren, Peter, Emily and Mark Ashby.
Betty will be buried alongside her husband of 61 years in Lakeland, FL. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 18, at 11 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4450 Harden Blvd., Lakeland, FL. A luncheon will be served afterward.
