FORT PIERCE, FL. - Mary Helen Hefley, age 90, of Fort Pierce, FL died on February 13, 2013 at Port St. Lucie Nursing and Restorative Care, of natural causes.
Mary was born in Alton, Illinois. She moved to Fort Pierce from Illinois in 1950. After 15 years Mary and her family relocated to Lakeland where she lived for 7 years before moving to Lake Wales, then to Okeechobee in 1988, and finally returning to Fort Pierce in 2000.
Mary was of the Catholic faith and had been a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales and Saint Anastasia Catholic Church in Fort Pierce. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 40 in Fort Pierce and she loved fishing on Lake Okeechobee.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Leroy and her sister Elizabeth Kuntz.
Survivors include her three sons Joseph Hefley of Port St. Lucie, Michael Hefley of Fort Pierce, and John Hefley of Lakeland; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, 7951 South US Highway One in Port St. Lucie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Saint Anastasia Catholic Church, 407 South 33rd Street in Fort Pierce. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
