ATHENS, GA. - Hugh A. McEachern died on Sept. 29, 2013, at Morningside of Athens, in Athens Georgia, due to congestive heart failure. He was 94.
Hugh was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, in August, 1919. He moved with his family, to Wyandotte, Michigan, while still a child. He lived most of his life in Wyandotte, graduating from St Patrick's High School in 1938. He served as an Army Medic, in Europe, throughout the entire Second World War, and after returning home, he married his sweetheart, Madeline M. Jager, in Dec. 1945. Soon thereafter, Hugh began working at Monsanto Chemical Co., in Trenton, MI, where he worked as a pipe-fitter until he retired in 1981. He moved to Angler's Cove, Lakeland, Florida, in 1985 and lived there until shortly before his death.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Mary Ann McEachern; and by his siblings, Mary, Christina, Rosalia, Norman and Josephine.
He is survived by his wife Madeline, to whom he was happily married for nearly 68 years. He is also survived by his daughter Mary Jo Krueger and sons Robert and Michael McEachern; grandsons Grant and Brandon Krueger, and Kevin McEachern; and great granddaughters Vanessa, Elise and Keira.
A memorial service will be held 10:00AM Saturday Oct. 12, at St. Patrick's, Wyandotte, MI.
