FROSTPROOF - Billy A. Ellis of Frostproof passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at his residence due to respiratory failure.
He was born July 19, 1930 in Frostproof to the late A. Bernard & Eva Ellis and was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Frostproof High School in 1948 and was a crop dusting pilot in his younger years. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof and was a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and being in his pasture with the cows; but will be most remembered for his kind, gentle demeanor that he got from his mother, Eva.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Ellis; a son, Billy A. Ellis, Jr.; and siblings, Ruby Benton, Aaron B. Ellis, Jr. and Julia Livingston. Survivors include his son, Ronald Ellis of Palm Bay; sisters, Minnie Dempsey of Frostproof and Dolly Woodley of Frostproof; and many nieces and nephews, including, his caregiver J.B. Benton and wife, Kim of Sebring.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Cornerstone Hospice (2590 Havendale Blvd NW, Winter Haven, FL 33881) or First Presbyterian Church (101 North Palm Avenue, Frostproof, FL, 33824).
