Maintenance Man

LAKE WALES - Mr. Herbert L. Covert, 86, of Lake Wales, Florida died on Monday, May 12, 2014, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, of cancer.
He was born on February 10, 1928 in Mount Freedom, New Jersey to Tom and Edna Covert, and moved to Lake Wales thirty-five years ago from Saint Clair, Michigan. He was a retired maintenance man for Saint Clair Rubber in Marysville, Michigan. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and member of the May O'Brien V.F.W. Post #8465 in Port Huron, Michigan. He was of the Lake Wales Lutheran Church and formerly Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Huron.
Herb is survived by his wife of forty-eight years Lillian, son Herbert L. Covert, Jr. of Marine City, Michigan, daughters Theresa and husband Larry, Patricia, Ruth, and Darcey, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Jacqueline Stone, a sister Loretta Shauger, and brothers John, Lawrence, and Bill.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home. Services and interment will be held in Port Huron, Michigan.
