AUBURNDALE - Theresa P. Massey, 97, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015, at Auburndale Oaks Health Care Center.
Theresa was born November 1, 1917 in Terrell County Georgia. She married Felton Massey in 1935, and they were married for 55 years before he passed away. She moved to Florida in 1945, where she raised 5 children and was a homemaker and stay at home mom.
Theresa and her husband enjoyed traveling and visited many places across the United States over the years. She was also a very accomplished seamstress and did sewing for her friends and family throughout the years. After her children were grown, she and her husband moved back to Georgia and she worked in retail sales in a dress shop in Hiawassee, Georgia. Her husband passed away in Georgia in 1990, and after being snowed in too many times in Georgia, Theresa moved back to Florida in 1993, to be near family and get out of the cold. She lived in the E.C. Apartments in Winter Haven for nearly 20 years, and was involved in many activities and had many friends there. Theresa has been living at Auburndale Oaks for the last 3 years. She is a member of Berea Baptist Church in Auburndale.
Besides her husband Felton, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Berry; sister, Mary Jones; and brother, William Adolphus Payne. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Houseman (Stephen) of Lakeland, Florida; her sons, James Massey (Jim) of Hayward, California, Don Massey (Linda) of Auburndale, Florida, and Bill Massey (Mary) of Maiden, North Carolina; and sister, Jeanette Dixon of Macon, Georgia. Theresa also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 25 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Harvey's Funeral Home, 184 Crawford Street NE, Dawson, Georgia 31742. Condolences to the family can be sent to: www.oakridgefuneralcare.com .

Grandma you are my heart and soul. No one will know how much I will miss you there's an empty place in my heart. But I know now you'll be happy with grandpa and aunt Shirley.
You were truly a special special lady to me I couldn't ask for a better grandma loving caring and always there for me.
I will always remember our saying I love you too much !!!!!
