LAKELAND - Margaret Ernestine (Ballard) Goller left this party to join the party with her husband, family and friends on December 22, 2009 in Jacksonville, FL at the home of her daughter due to heart disease.
Ernie was born in Amarillo, Texas, March 3, 1920 one of four children of Fitz and Mattie Ballard. After graduating from Amarillo High School she attended the University of Missouri where she was a cheerleader and member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Meeting her husband of 57 years on a blind date, the family moved numerous times due to his service in the Navy, in both WWII and Korea. She and George were very social; were blessed with friends all over the world, and cherished their dear friends in Lakeland. She loved to dance, listen to music from the 40s, Elvis Presley Gospel music; she also enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas. A very crafty person she had been seen all over the world crocheting scrubbies.
After moving to Lakeland, she worked for 23 years for the State of Florida as a social worker. She not only assisted those in need during her professional life, but when the State couldn't help she found a way on her own assist.
Preceded in passing by her parents, two brothers: Ossie and Bill, the love of her life her husband George, and many very close friends and family.
Ernestine is survived by her brother, George Hume Ballard (Jean), Amarillo, Tx. She leaves four children: Colonel George C. (Linda) Goller, Monticello Fl, Lani (Steve) Bauer, Cheri (Mike King) Goller, both from Jacksonville FL, and Greg Goller. Grandma Ernie was so very proud of her grandchildren: Justin (Lyn) Ebert, Jordan (CPT Dewitt) Revels, Kyle C. Goller, Gayle and Morgan Sinclair. One great granddaughter, Taylor Revels. She was blessed to have many wonderful neighbors and friends, especially her very special angel, Julia Tripp.
Ernestine was blessed with a wonderful, happy life, with just a few bumps along the way and she leaves many warm memories in the hearts of her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church Chapel, 72 Lake Morton Dr., Lakeland, Saturday, March 27th at 1:00 pm, with a tea to celebrate her life immediately following. (location announced at memorial.) Information: 850-997-4102. In lieu of flowers: dance, call a friend, get your hair done, whatever you do, in Ernie's memory, be late.
