LAKE WALES - Ernestine Warren Stovall, age 93, died peacefully, Wednesday Aug. 4, 2010 at her home in Lake Wales of natural causes.
She was a native of Washington County, Virginia and is preceded in death by her parents Authur Gordon and Ollie Tate Warren, husband Ernest Stovall, and brother Eddie Warren.
She is survived by her sister Babe Warren of Babson Park, FL, 3 sons: Doc G. Stovall and wife Margaret of Lithia Springs, GA, Bobby B. Stovall and wife Martha of Raleigh, NC, Eddie L. Stovall and wife Renee of Haines City, FL, and 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grand children, and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
Her entire life was devoted to education and teaching, having received a BA in Education from Emory and Henry College and an MA from University of Virginia, including additional studies at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Her teaching career began in a one room school in the hills of Virginia continuing several years in various Virginia schools. The last being in Honaker, VA where the family lived for several years before moving to Lake Wales, Florida in 1958. She taught many years at Polk Avenue Elementary and Vanguard. In her retirement she volunteered as an aide at Spook Ell Elementary and tutored numerous students in her home- She also volunteered at the Lake Wales Public Library as long as her health would allow.
She lived a long and productive life as a loving Mother, mentor, and teacher and she was dedicated to her family and teaching.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Lake Wales.
The memorial service arrangements are pending. Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale.
